This recipe is a copycat of the Bourbon Chicken sold in Chinese carry-outs. It’s named Bourbon Chicken because it was supposedly created by a Chinese cook who worked in a restaurant on Bourbon Street.

Ingredients
  1. 2 lbs boneless chicken breasts, cut into bite-size pieces
  2. 1 -2 tablespoon olive oil
  3. 1 garlic clove, crushed
  4. 1⁄4 teaspoon ginger
  5. 3⁄4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  6. 1⁄4 cup apple juice
  7. 1⁄3 cup light brown sugar
  8. 2 tablespoons ketchup
  9. 1 tablespoon cider vinegar
  10. 1⁄2 cup water
  11. 1⁄3 cup soy sauce
